Finally an Update

So lots of stuff has happened. We went to Westminster Abby for the architecture class and got to see lots of kings tombs and stuff and everything was really old and pretty. It was really cold in the Abby--colder than outside in the hallways. And we talked about the oldest parts and when additions had been made to it and stuff. There was a museum that we looked at before we left that had these effigies of some of the kings and queens made from their death masks and stuff.

We also went to another play--Gem of the Ocean by August Wilson. The theatre that we went to was really awesome. It was called the Tricycle theatre and was really little and red. The play was pretty good--it was part of a series of plays Wilson wrote about black people in different decades of the 20th century. This play was set right around the turn of the century I think and was about reconstruction and internal racism.

We also went and looked at portraits of the kings and queens. It was really nice to have the teacher there to talk about the pictures with us. And we went to Trafalger (spelling?) Square and saw more pigeons than I have ever seen in my life. The were almost scary. We were circling around the teacher and one got caught in the middle of our group. We slowly closed in on it and it got upset. We let it out and it fluffed up it's feathers and sulked away.

Today in our theatre class we had an actor (I can't think of his name right now) who has been with the Royal Shakespeare Company come talk to us. He was the bad guy in Believe What You Will which we saw recently.

Tomorrow we are leaving on a field trip to Bath. We're going to see a play about Jewish something or other called 2000 Years. I should have read something about it by now but I'll do that tonight. We saw a panel discussion with the author last week. On our way to Bath we get to stop at Stonehenge which should be really exciting. We're staying overnight at Bath so we will be forced to eat at restaurants. So far I haven't been out to any--just lots of pasta and cheese sandwiches. Tonight Sarah and Ben and I did make hamburgers which was a nice change. I think we need to eat more protein.

Sarah and I got lost on the way to class today. We were meeting at this hotel downtown because that actor guy was coming and we left a whole hour before we needed to be there. We ended up going to a different hotel and asking the manager where it was. He called information for us and got us directions and we ended up being about 15 minutes late.

I did laundry today. There is a laundry matt just down the street. Sarah and I each did a load and then took it home to dry. We took some ladders from the bunk bed and put them across open wardrobe doors to hang our close on. So far our close have not dried and the humidity and laundry smell in our room has increased significantly. I think we may have to break down and use the dryers.
I got really sick starting yesterday. I thought I was going to miss class today but I went anyway. I went back to bed around 3 and slept for a couple of hours and thought I was going to die. Suddenly I just felt better. I think I had a fever for a little while so hopefully that was the worst of it. I don't want to be sick when I go to Bath.

Mostly I've just been sleeping and reading in my free time but now that I feel better I think more exciting things will start happening. I have a 3 day weekend coming up and I am going to email Frank Walsh and see if I can get a hold of the people I stayed in Ireland with before. Sarah's parents wanted us to come to Vienna and meet them but they don't get there until the last day of our three day weekend.

I didn't know you went to Ireland! The farthest I've been is to Pennsylvania lol. I wish I could go to London, too! I love reading your journal though, it makes me feel like I'm right there with you.
